LPL Financial Volunteer Event Builds Bridges with Students in Boston

As part of LPL’s 2017 Focus conference, the LPL Foundation hosted a volunteer event to support two Boston-area nonprofits. More than 40 volunteers, including LPL advisors, executives and employees took part in mentoring at-risk youth and assembling 500 school supply kits.

Charity partners for this year’s event included:

  • City Year Boston, an organization committed to helping individuals and families achieve economic independence. City Year Boston works closely with students at high-need public schools to help them succeed.
  • Crossroads for Kids, a non-profit dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing community for underserved youth while helping them understand the value of college to achieve their goals.

Strengthening our community

Volunteers engaged with student participants in conversations about personal goals and ways to develop their leadership skills. After participating in interactive activities, volunteers and students assembled back-to-school supply kits for students attending Crossroads’ summer camp.

Heather Randolph Carter, LPL Foundation president and executive volunteer, expressed gratitude to all those who participated. “As the LPL family gathers each year to learn and connect, we are delighted that so many of our clients and colleagues consistently choose to give their time to strengthen local communities,” she said. “LPL is proud to be able to give back in a meaningful way to the Boston community and provide a boost to these exceptional students. We are grateful for the LPL advisors who make helping others a priority in their businesses and through community engagement.”
