LPL Named One of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality

LPL Financial

LPL was among a record 609 firms to achieve a 100 percent rating in the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI) 2018. The CEI recognizes companies for taking steps to ensure greater equity for LGBTQ workers and their families in the form of comprehensive policies, benefits, and practices.

LPL Repeats Perfect Rating for LGBTQ Policies and Practices

For the second year in a row, LPL earned a perfect score in the HRC Foundation’s CEI. The CEI is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer employees.

“It is an honor to receive a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index,” said Lisa Toppin, LPL vice president and chief diversity officer. “As a firm, we are committed to providing the programs, education, and training that nurture a culture where employees are supported to bring their whole selves to work. When employees can be themselves and are encouraged to honor and respect what is unique and diverse about each person, it enriches the work they do, and we are able to better serve our and their clients.”

The HRC Foundation’s CEI rating system is designed for mid- to large-sized businesses (500 full-time employees and above) and divided into four key criteria categories:

  • Non-discrimination policies across business entities
  • Equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families
  • Internal education and accountability metrics to promote LGBTQ inclusion competency
  • Public commitment to LGBTQ equality

The CEI’s framework is one of parity rather than prescription. The organization promotes the adoption of LGBTQ-specific practices and language within existing business structures.

John Leonard, member of LPL’s LGBT Employee Resource Group and vice president, Human Resources, added, “LPL’s commitment to LGBTQ diversity and inclusion adds to a dynamic culture that is beneficial to our overall business. By welcoming the workplace to a variety of perspectives and employee experiences, we are able to expand our thinking, enhance collaboration, and foster creativity. I am proud to be a part of a company that supports and advocates for their employees.”
