LPL is proud to announce that our Carolinas campus has been honored with a Green Gala Sustainable Business Award for innovative interior design. The Green Gala Awards are presented annually by the North Carolina and South Carolina chapters of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), recognizing excellence and innovation in sustainable design practices.

LPL’s 450,000-square-foot campus was designed by architecture firm tvsdesign through a collaborative approach with LPL and other project partners. The partners shared a goal to produce a unique design solution that supports and reflects the firm’s values and our mission to promote success and creativity to best serve our clients while respecting the planet’s resources.

The campus, which was completed in October 2016, is LEED Gold certified and includes unique features intended to protect resources and promote employee wellbeing, including:

  • Net zero water usage - Water-efficient systems used throughout the campus recycle and redirect water, minimizing consumption of non-potable water and slowing water entering the local storm water system.
  • Outboard core elements - The buildings are illuminated by abundant natural light through the outboard staircase and clear floor plates, creating a pleasant work environment that reduces lighting-related energy consumption and offers employees an outdoor view from nearly every workstation.
  • Environmentally conscious landscaping and exterior design - Construction strategies spared as many trees as possible and used reclaimed hardwoods for building construction. The smart use of exterior design materials also reduces heat islands and energy consumption.

“Sustainability was a significant driver in the design of our campus,” said Sara Nomellini, LPL senior vice president, Corporate Real Estate. “By working with project partners who shared a commitment to our vision, we were able to build a workplace that values resources, creates pride for employees, clients and the community and inspires teams to do great work. It is an honor for LPL to be recognized for the extraordinary workplace we have created in support of our most precious resource—our employees.”

The Carolinas campus includes many other amenities designed to improve employee health and encourage greater physical movement, including sit-to-stand adjustable workstations, a fitness center, a health clinic, a community garden, a network of pedestrian trails, outdoor sports courts, a game room, bicycle storage and a bicycle share program.
