Summer Interns Make a Difference Working on Community Projects

College students enriched their summer internship experience at LPL by volunteering in LPL’s local communities. In San Diego, LPL interns helped the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego host an Olympics-style competition for 650 youth at the 4S Ranch Branch. Interns working at LPL’s Fort Mill, S.C., location contributed their time to improve the Anne Springs Close Greenway, a 2,100-acre nature preserve adjacent to LPL’s Carolinas campus.

Interns are encouraged to supplement their professional experience by taking part in an LPL volunteer opportunity in order to build connections, gain new experiences and contribute to their communities.

“The community service project with the interns is a favorite of mine each year,” says Dre Manoni, LPL Learning and Development senior consultant. “It gives the interns a way to connect with each other in a new way to deepen their experience and offers them a chance to see how a workplace culture can make a job more meaningful.”

LPL’s summer internship program offers professional development opportunities for students at two universities local to its largest offices, Cal State San Marcos and Johnson C. Smith University. Both institutions are community partners of the LPL Financial Foundation.
